Meet The Artist: Otherworld
On Meet The Artist, we want you to get to know the players on our label a bit better, so we ask them five questions-- some about music, some not, and get them to tell us a little more about themselves, their tunes, and what goes on inside those creative brains. Today, we’re talking to Otherworld.
What’s the overarching theme theme of this release?
A representation of a sequence of bothersome dreams.
What drove you to music?
My will appears to be manifesting the imaginal in some form or another. Information descends from the immaterial to be picked up by the subconscious, and is then decoded through my subjective reality model. It often ends up becoming organised sound, or imagery. I find the former easier to tangle with.
What’s a long-term goal for you with music?
Collaboration with artificial intelligence, or non-human persons as bandmates. I see a potential for such a relationship creating a mutual appreciation for our particular capacities, the human offering in the equation being our unique relationship with the imaginal.
What’s your favourite flower, and why?
I’d like to wander through a field of antirrhinums, all in different colours.
If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be?
You could certainly do worse than to be a bookcase.
